The department of Zoology came into existence during the academic session 2011-12 by way of the teaching at undergraduate level. For each academic session 60 inquisitive students with high motivation and passion towards animal science are selected. This is one of the pioneering departments in the field of biology, dealing with the scientific study of animals, including their behaviour, physiology, genetics, and evolution. The regular teaching programme includes timely internal assessment, seminars, project assignment, group discussion and visits towards local protected area to know better understanding about local biodiversity and their conservation issues. Along with the rigorous course curriculum, a variety of extra-curricular activities are regularly conducted to foster the overall growth of students.
